Land South of Station Road, Market Bosworth Draft Masterplan Supplementary Planning Document Consultation
The Borough Council is inviting comments on the above document until Tuesday 22nd December 2020. Any comments on the documents need to be made during this period.
On Thursday 3rd September 2015 the residents of Market Bosworth became the first community in the Borough to take part in a referendum to decide whether or not adopt a community made Neighbourhood Plan for Market Bosworth and determine our needs and priorities in our designated Neighbourhood Area (The parish of Market Bosworth).
The Neighbourhood Plan was developed following 2 years of extensive consultation with residents, stakeholders and the young people of Market Bosworth. Throughout the consultation events, the community significantly supported sustainable development to provide both housing and more local employment. 64% supported the land to south of Station Road as the preferred option to locate such a development. At referendum the final plan was supported by an impressive 88% who voting to support the adoption of the Market Bosworth Neighbourhood Plan. Since then the Plan has had facilitated a number of positive outcomes. The designated land to the south of Station Road known as Station Field is now progressing. A ‘Masterplan’ is the outcome from collaboration of the landowners, statutory authorities and stakeholders to bring the Neighbourhood Plan designated site forward for development.
We already know developers and speculators are looking to build on greenfield sites wherever they can in Market Bosworth, creating developments that will not provide employment or bring other benefits to the community. You can help Market Bosworth fulfil the community needs by commenting in support of the Masterplan now.
Land south of Station Road, Market Bosworth is allocated for a mixed use development in the Borough Council’s Site Allocations and Development Management Policies DPD (2016) (MKBOS02) as well as the Market Bosworth Neighbourhood Development Plan (2015). A masterplan has been prepared for the site including the industrial estate north of the mixed use allocation to assist in bringing the development forward. Following consultation the masterplan will be adopted by the council as a Supplementary Planning Document.
